Chiropractic has been and always will be reliant on the bodies own innate ability to heal. Our central nervous system is what regulates and controls these functions of our body. This is what allows us to see such a wide array of conditions in our offices. A Chiropractor does nothing more than aid to optimize and allow the body to fully express health. We as Chiropractors don’t claim to “heal” anything. Meaning that the case types able to be seen in our office are limitless. Unless you dont think the power that made the body can heal the body 🙂 Having said this, please understand that this does not encompass cases of medical  or medical emergency so please seek appropriate care when necessary.

Once  a patient leaves our office, they are left to there own devices. It is this time we we must choose to avoid self destructive behaviors and choose to bulletproof our health and wellness. Chiropractic was once a purely wellness based profession. There wasn’t such a presence of chronic pain based, stress based illness. I read an article from John Hopkins university the other day that stated that the average person these days will experience more physical, emotional and chemical stress in 1 day than our great grandparents experienced in a lifetime, how startling is that!!? The potential damage that can be done in just a matter of minutes can undo what a Chiropractor or any other wellness professional can do in a visit.

So than if we want to Bulletproof ourselves from the outside world, what must we do? The first 3 steps are simple, easy and amazingly powerful. Sleep, breath, and eat bulletproof. If you aren’t sleeping appropriately, you will never heal. Always get between 7-8 hours of sleep and if you are unable to, try to supplement it with short periods of meditation during the day. If you have inability to fall asleep, go see your Chiropractor 🙂 or try Valerian root; if you you are having trouble staying asleep, try melatonin supplementation. Both of these are non narcotic, non habit forming, and highly effective. Try to sleep in a blacked out room if possible, your body can sense ambient lighting  and can result in restless sleep, cover over your alarm clock, turn off the cookie monster nightlight and get some sleep. Try to sleep on your back or on your side with a pillow between your knees, these are the best positions to keep from placing stress on the spine.

Ready, set, breath 🙂 Most if not all of us aren’t breathing appropriately and are probably borderline hypoxic. Breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Take time during the day to breath slowly and feel the breath. “8 count breathing” is a highly effective way to get your breathing back on track and helps to reduce stress greatly.  Start with a 4 second count breath in through your nose, than hold the breath in for 7 seconds followed with a breath out through the mouth for 8 seconds. Repeat this for a total of 8 reps, try to work up to it as it might be difficult at first, this should take you a few minutes to complete and you should notice immediate results.

Stop sabotaging yourself with a horrid diet. I never tell anyone to go on a diet. Just eat clean and embrace a healthier lifestyle. I wont go into any particular diet of sorts as they all have some validity. Most importantly, lower sugar intake as much as possible. This includes artificial poisons(sweeteners) such as sucralose as aspartame. Sugars or fake sugar are extremely inflammatory and lower your in health in general across the board. Embrace fats, your brain and body love good fats in appropriate amounts, don’t hesitate to get your fill of healthy fats including but not limited to grass fed butter, coconut oil, egg yolks, avocados, and nuts. Always attempt to stay hydrated. 8 glasses of water a day should suffice but try to be consistent. A few ounces every 30 mins or so is much more effective than trying to cram 8 glasses down at days end. Research shows that even small amounts of dehydration can drastically reduce brain function and efficiency.

With just these 3 simple steps, you can expect a much healthier and vibrant life. This is your life, you only get one body, now is the time to get well and bulletproof yourself to stay well.
